Every news outlet has picked up the New York Post story of Cameron Diaz and Alex Rodriguez dining with newly single Kate Winslet saturday night at hot spot Hotel Griffou here in the West Village. Guess what, I happened to be there too. Hotel Griffou is one of those places that skews coolness and ambiance and has a great vibe running throughout the restaurant. It’s elegant, underground and speakeasy-chic. It’s a cozy spot with much history going back to the writers and artists of the 1870’s who frequented the restaurant such as Mark Twain and Oscar Wilde. Duly, all the beautiful paintings that adorn each specialized dining room. Depending on your mood, you can dine in the The Salon, The Library or the newly popular Palm Terrace. Regardless of all the atmosphere, the owners, who hail from popular Waverly Inn and Freeman’s, focus mainly on the food and strive to give each visitor a grand experience. They have succeeded. Don’t walk, run. Whether you sit at a table or hang at the bar, it’s a win win. French trained Chef Jason Giordano, who studied under one of the best chefs on the planet Chef Jean George, offers an American/International menu which is sure to please the palate. P.S. Make sure you say hi to Bob, the dapper doorman who watches over the entrance.
