Angelo & Maxie’s Steakhouse on Park Ave South at 19th is a great steakhouse and has been there for years. Whether its group dining or just the two of you, it’s a fun and fabulous night out. Before that, it was Italian restaurant Canastel’s which was the “in” place to be and be seen in the 90’s. It was rumored that even Sandra Bullock worked there before she hit it big. Now, next door they have opened Maxie’s Grill, the more casual bar and grill to its big sister. The crème de la creme are the many flat screens hanging throughout the grill to make it a very cool place to watch sports. The menu is full of fancy bar food that’s really tasty and reasonably priced. The sliders and onion rings are delish. Mark Packer, the restaurateur pioneer behind this and many hot spots including mega successful Tao, knows how to do it. Next time you’re in Gramercy, check out Maxie’s.
