Mark Wahlberg, who acted under the direction of Martin Scorsese in ‘The Departed,’ and garnered an Oscar nomination for his performance, is working with him again as producer of a cool new drama series from HBO. ‘Boardwalk Empires,’ written by Terence Winter, Emmy Award winning writer of ‘The Sopranos,’ is the story of America in the 1920’s. The Great War is over, Wall Street was about to boom and everything was for sale, even the World Series. It was a time of change when women got the vote, broadcast radio began and young people ruled the world. It is set in Atlantic City at the dawn of Prohibition, when the sale of alcohol became illegal throughout the U.S. Steve Buscemi stars and producer Scorsese directs the pilot. ‘Boardwalk Empires’ premieres Sunday September 19th in the coveted spot of 9pm. My interest is peaked.
