Two years ago while on Safari in Africa, actress Kristin Davis discovered an abandoned baby elephant. Re-lighting her life-long passion for elephants, she arranged for him to be rehabilitated at an orphanage for elephants and rhinos, and they gradually reintroduced him back into the wild. Therefore, she’s receiving The Wyler Award, one of The Humane Society’s most prestigious honors, at the animal protection organization’s 25th Anniversary Genesis Awards on March 19th at The Hyatt Regency in LA. “I am so excited to receive The Wyler Award from The Humane Society of the United States, as it gives me the opportunity to keep talking about an issue that’s a profound labor of love for me,” says Kristin. “Elephants are truly amazing animals and they need our protection, and what people in this country may not realize is that they can help by not buying ivory items.” The Wyler Award is named after former Broadway actress, animal activist and founder of The Genesis Awards Gretchen Wyler, and past recipients include Sir Paul McCartney, Hayden Panettiere, and Ellen DeGeneres & Portia de Rossi.
