Lucky day for all who love Bette because Variety broke the news that the incredible Bette Midler has signed on for a lead role in HBO Films’ still in- development Phil Spector film starring Al Pacino. David Mamet will write and direct the story which explores the relationship between the legendary music producer and his defense attorney Linda Kenney Baden who represented him during his first trial for murder. Jeffrey Tambor has also been cast in the film which Mamet and Pacino will executive produce along with Barry Levinson who directed Pacino in the Emmy winning ‘You Don’t Know Jack.’
