Hear ye hear ye, all comic book junkies the theatre is calling your name to come watch “Thor!” The legendary heroic Marvel comic book character comes to life in this 3D mythical journey.
The epic tale of “Thor” stars the oh-so-hot Chris Hemsworth as he learns the true meaning of being an honorable king. Once a hot headed young man, Thor realizes that his petulance and love for fighting compromises the innocent lives of not only his world of Asgard, but also those within the Universe.
Hemsworth was thrilled to play a character that, “could save the day, was inspiring and that could sacrifice his own safety for the greater good of others.” The most grueling part in Hemsworth attaining such a sexy physic, “the eating…I had to force-feed myself with 20 chicken breasts and rice and steak!”
Thor’s wise and elderly father Odin, played by Sir Anthony Hopkins, challenged his son to earn the right to be King of Asgard. Hopkins said, “It was the most enjoyable film I’ve been a part of in a long time.”
When Thor is banished to planet Earth, he encounters the quirky and extraterrestrial inquisitor Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman. The unique and rebellious love story between the two unfolds in a romantic but thrilling plot.
For those who love humor, Darcy Lewis played by Kat Dennings, fulfilled most of the films’ comedic edge. Dennings quipped, “Natalie and I have been friends for years, so we just hung out and goofed off and we’re girls, so of course Stellan [Skarsgård] had to listen to us talk about boys and nail polish!”
Each of the actors loved working on this mythical comic adaptation and the brotherly love was clearly visible as Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki, denies the idea that he initially wanted to be Thor.
Hiddleston said, “I didn’t actually want to be Thor…I was born with very blonde curly hair…much unlike Gene Wilder in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and I’m 6’2”. So like every other English-speaking actor…I went out for the role. But I’m not built like a house like the man to my right [Hemsworth]…so I’m much happier as things are!”
Most of the cast felt that the costumes and set designs played a major role getting into character, Hopkins said, “N.A.R., No Acting Required, I let the armor act for me and that was about it…I showed up and put on my voice.”
So, what other comic heroes would the cast like to play? Jaimie Alexander exclaimed “X23”, Idris Elba smoothly suggested “Luke Cage” and Hemsworth joked, “Loki!”
