Powerful and one-of-a-kind musician Amy Winehouse has died at the tender age of 27 and eerily joins the unfortunate ‘27 club’ of artists gone-too-soon. Notable artists tragically in the group include Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain.
Winehouse known for her super powerful vocals and her eclectic mix of musical genres including R&B, soul and jazz along with her famous 1960’s beehive hairstyle, was according to various reports found dead in her London flat on Saturday, July 23, 2011. Troubles with alcohol and drug addiction along with many unsuccessful rehab stints plagued the artist for years and it seemed she just couldn’t shake the habit. As of now cause of death is unknown and an autopsy is being done.
Ironically, Winehouse won several Grammy’s including Record of the Year and Song of the Year with her smash hit ‘Rehab’ off her 2008 album ‘Back in Black’, which won Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year.
