The sexy, funky, soulful and stage commanding Mary C along with her big band The Stellars brought their big sound to the small stage at R Lounge last week with such chutzpah that you would have thought it was Adele or someone of that stature. The twenty-something exciting New Yorker, daughter of famed jazz singer Mercedes Hall, along with her hip and funky jazz band of back-up singers, trumpet player, funky guitarist and bassist, and female sax player, had the whole room on its feet by the time her show was over.
Her tune ‘Love Automatic’ I automatically loved as well as her Amy Winehouse ‘Rehab’ cover and her entire set full of attitude and vigor. The view at R Lounge at Renaissance Hotel Times Square is a must-see and the tasty Blue Ribbon menu is a must-eat.
Mary C & The Stellars are a good time, find them.
