It’s been a whirlwind six months for 16-year-old Lauren Alaina.
Besides winning over the country with her Southern charm, the American Idol runner-up who lost out to deep-voiced Scotty McCreery, released her debut album, Wildflower, last month, which has already spawned two hit singles.
Alaina talked to Parade.com about her new album, new look, and new friendship with Carrie Underwood.
On her most memorable experience post-Idol.
“After the show ended, I got to go spend a week in Nashville. I met a lot of artists that I grew up listening to and looking up to, and they knew who I was and welcomed me into the country music family. Just being accepted and meeting people like Martina McBride felt awesome.”
On her superstar transformation.
“I just started eating really healthy and taking better care of myself. I’m just trying to keep my energy up to keep up with this crazy schedule, and it just so happens that my body is shaping up and looking better than ever!”
On her friendship with fellow Idol alum Carrie Underwood.
“Sometimes it gets hard being gone from everyone and she’s somebody that understands it. All I gotta do is call her or text her and just talk to her for a minute and it makes me feel better because she’s been there. She’s done it and she’s very successful and has a great life. It’s very comforting to talk to someone who knows exactly how I feel.”
