Thousands of New Yorkers and visitors lined the streets the other night to watch Mayor Bloomberg flip the switch to light the famous Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, officially kicking off the NYC holiday season.

30,000 energy sufficient LED lights burst into color on the 10-ton, 74- foot tall, 46 foot-wide, approximately 75 year-old Norway Spruce that is topped with a spectacular, newly enhanced Swarovski crystal star.

This gorgeous extravaganza will see the likes of roughly 750,000 people.

And yes, some of those thousands were there to see Justin Bieber not Bloomy or the tree.
