You know a movie is destined to be a success when all the media at the press screening claps as the credits begin to roll. And that’s exactly how it went down after seeing Dwayne Johnson aka ‘The Rock’ deliver again in the family friendly entertaining thrilling joy ride called ‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.’
The new IMAX 3D family adventure with great special effects, a follow up to the 2008 hit ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’, starring Brendan Fraser who is rumored to have passed on the sequel due to a schedule conflict, follows a young adventurer and his step-father on a quest to find the mysterious and monster-filled island and his missing grandfather.
Oozing with 6 feet, 4 inches of charisma, top wrestler turned movie star Johnson who has become a major force in Hollywood, thrives once again in a family fun movie. Whether its comedies, family friendly or even serious art house indie movies, Dwayne Johnson seems to do it all.
Destined to be famous, Johnson even dabbled in football before turning to wrestling where he found his niche and became The Rock.
Young co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Vanessa Hudgens, along with veteran actors Michael Caine, Luiz Guzman and Kristin Davis wrap up the picture nicely and seal it with a kiss.
I wouldn’t be surprised if one day we see the larger-than-life serious actor Johnson front row and center at the Oscars. However, until then, do take the family and go see Warner Bros, ‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island’ opening Friday, Feb 10.
