Lara Spencer means business.
Having had enough of hosting the CBS hit entertainment news show ‘The Insider’, she was ready to move on and wanted to take over for Mary Hart at ‘Entertainment Tonight’ once the matriarch was ready to give up the very coveted seat she warmed for so many years.
Then news broke that Spencer was being passed over for the job by ‘Access Hollywood’ co-anchor Nancy O’Dell. You could probably hear the screams of fury from her Los Angeles home that she shared with hubby and kids.
So what to do the ambitious Spencer must have meditated on during yoga.
I’m guessing that anyone who knows Lara (I don’t) but I know the type, would vouch that there was never any doubt she would land on her high-heeled feet. And boy did she ever.
She switched coasts and took morning television by storm in the form of ‘Lifestyle Anchor’ for second place morning show ‘Good Morning America’ joining George Stephanopoulos, Robin Roberts, Sam Champion and Josh Elliot formerly of ‘ESPN,‘ making them one happy family.
With the chemistry palpable, the transition seemed effortless and ‘GMA’ has now become number one in the ratings knocking out longtime holder ‘NBC’s, ‘Today’ pushing them to two, with CBS’s ‘This Morning’ trailing behind.
So now it’s no surprise that ABC just announced that they’re doubling down and giving her and Josh Elliot their own show ‘Good Afternoon America’ to air at 2p weekdays taking the place of ratings bomb ‘The Revolution.’
The new show ‘GAA‘ will focus on the lighter side of news covering all topics and be taped at 9am right after their first show ends. It will also serve as an exciting lead-in for highly anticipated new talk show ‘Katie’ with Katie Couric.
And that’s you do it ladies and gentlemen.
