THIRTEEN, the flagship station of PBS, hosted the THIRTEEN 50th Anniversary Gala Salute to celebrate five decades of remarkable programming, innovation in public media and invaluable contributions to the New York community, and to honor extraordinary individuals who have played a vital role in the institutions success over the years.

Also honored, William M. Ellinghaus, Henry R. Kravis and Steven Rattner, all distinguished former Chairmen of THIRTEEN, for their transformative leadership spanning over three decades of THIRTEENs history.
Shapiro’s wife, Emmy Award winning TV journalist Juju Chang, looked great in a form fitting black dress.
After the special cocktail reception for honorees, guests filed into the theater for the taping of an upcoming Great Performances special with appearances and performances by Julie Andrews, Michael Bublé, Elina Garanca, Josh Groban, Audra McDonald, Peter Martins and members of the New York City Ballet, and Itzhak Perlman
