Monday night at theTribeca Rooftop The American Institute for Stuttering honored legendary actor Samuel L. Jackson, his good friend Bruce Willis surprised him to present the award, and Emily Blunt served as mistress of ceremonies.
A radiant Emily Blunt, also an AIS board member, arrived on the arm of handsome and charming hubby John Krasinski who spent time talking and taking pictures with everybody, while his wife a former stutterer who stopped speaking altogether by age 12, charmed the red carpet.
Action movie star Bruce Willis emanating a larger than life presence, along with stunning wife Emma Heming, made a surprise appearance to personally present the award to his good friend Samuel L. Jackson.
A witty Willis who also discussed his bouts with stuttering, hooked the audience with is heartfelt and personal introduction to Jackson, highlighting his remarkable achievements. In his acceptance speech, Jackson said that stuttering caused him to be silent in school, but after a few years he decided it was more productive to fight back, which proved to be one of the evening’s most memorable highlights.
When it came time to donating money to AIS which serves children and adults with specialized speech therapy, Willis and Jackson jumped right in and donated MANY Die-Hard dollars. Two class acts.
