Janis Joplin‘s sister and brother accepted a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in honor of their late sister this week.
Surrounding them are Kris Kristofferson who performed an acoustic version of “Me and Bobby McGee,” a song he penned that became one of Joplin’s signature hits, and music mogul Clive Davis, credited for discovering the die-hard talent.
Weeks ago at the Broadway opening of ‘A Night with Janis Joplin’, brother Michael said, “My mom would set it up to do house cleaning and we would do Broadway show tunes. It was a little bit weird. We were singing loud.” Added Laura, “Our mother in her early life, was a Broadway singer. We had those LP’s around the home and listened to them a lot. On cleaning day, we’d put them on high.”
Joplin’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Star is placed in front of the Musicians Institute.
