Mayor Bloomberg is ready to work with Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio.
No sooner did he find out that he was elected, Park Slope resident de Blasio met with Mayor Bloomberg for an hour at City Hall and discussed his transition team.
Currently living in Park Slope, Brooklyn, the new mayor announced he’s not sure yet whether he’ll be moving into Gracie Mansion because his son Dante wants to be close to his school.
The two mayors sat a table overlooking the City hall bullpen, talking quietly about the process of choosing top staffers for an administration.
Mr. de Blasio called the meeting with Mr. Bloomberg “a very helpful conversation, very collegial.”
And talking to CNN, Mayor Bloomberg said the two had agreed to meet periodically in the weeks before the new Mayor takes office on Jan. 1.
“I have a very big vested interest in making Bill de Blasio an even better mayor than I was,” Bloomberg said in the interview with anchor Jake Tapper. “We’ve given them a lot to work with, as did our predecessors, but the bottom line is, I’m going to live in New York City, and I want Bill de Blasio’s administration to be successful.”
Mr. de Blasio and his wife Chirlane flew to Puerto Rico for an annual summit and post-election holiday.
