Show business lost a real winner recently.
I worked with many comedians when I first got into show business but although I never worked with Brenner, he always stood out to me. My mom always liked him.
You can bet that many of today’s top comics took from a page out of Brenner’s book.
Comedian extraordinaire David Brenner, one of the funniest observational comedians around, died at 78 years old. The married father of three reportedly died of cancer at his home in NYC.
He was one of those stand-up comedians who always made it look so easy. Back in the day, he was always a cool sharp dresser with a perennial tan.
HBO will remember David Brenner with an encore presentation of his 2000 HBO solo special “David Brenner: Back with a Vengeance,” which can be seen Thursday, March 20 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT) on the HBO Comedy channel.
In addition, the special will be available on HBO GO starting this Wednesday, March 19, through Wednesday, April 30.
Brenner was the most frequent guest on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in the 1970s and 1980s.
