UN Women For Peace hosted their annual March in March awards luncheon and march last Friday and it was nothing short of inspiration and uplifting.
Held in celebration of International Women’s Day in the Delegates Dining Room at the UN, being in that room full of power women: UN Ambassadors, celebrities with a cause, and everyday working women coming together with the goal to bring attention to end the pandemic of violence against women, was beyond moving and spectacular.
Yes, that’s Cindy McCain who spoke about Human Trafficking, Trudie Styler, Kim Cattrall, and Naomi Campbell with Ban Soon Taek, the wife of United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Patron of UN Women for Peace, and Muna Rihani Al- Nasser, UN Women For Peace’s Chair leading the march for the women.
Not even the freezing bitter cold weather could keep away these amazing and accomplished women who are making much needed changes from marching.
Sting’s better half Trudie Styler was honored with the organization’s 2014 Humanitarian Award and Dina Habib Powell, President, Goldman Sachs Foundation, accepted the 2014 Achievement Award on behalf of Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women.
Committee of Honor attendees included: Kim Cattrall, Naomi Campbell, Monique Coleman, Rosemary DiCarlo, Rula Jebreal, Lakskmi Puri, Kelly Rutherford, and Aldijana Sisic.
