Broadway and TV star Kristin Chenoweth covers the June issue of Women’s Running magazine, available on newsstands now.
The 45-year-old winner of both an Emmy and a Tony spills about her changed perspective on nutrition, her least favorite beverage and why she loves a long run.
Behind the scenes of her cover shoot, Kristin channeled her high school cheerleading days by insisting on a group jump shot.
She snacked on a turkey sandwich, quinoa salad and cottage cheese after modeling her own Lululemon capris and other fitness gear during the shoot.
Here’s some of the interview:
She’s a late bloomer . . . on proper nutrition: “I was pretty late to the party in realizing that you can’t put garbage in your body and expect it to run like a Ferrari.”
How she views her diet now: “When I hit 40, it really became more about how I feel than how I look. When I’m 60, I want to feel 50. I want to be able to enjoy life.”
Why she loves running: “It keeps my heart healthy!”
Why a long run is her favorite workout: “A lot of people find inspiration through running and I’m definitely among them . . . If I have a concert coming up, I love to put my headphones on and go over my whole program in my head. In New York, it’s especially gratifying, because I’ll run down to the pier on the west side. Even though I’m surrounded by people, it feels like a very private time.”
How she feels about water: “I don’t like drinking water, even though I should, so I bring Crystal Light packets with me to make water more palatable.”
