Dîner en Blanc returns to New York for its 4th year on August 25 and The Bordeaux Wine Council has announced it will provide Bordeaux as the featured wines.
Over 4000 people will attend he pop up dinner party or “posh picnic”, making it the largest U.S. event this year.
In a first, celebrity chef, restaurateur, author and television personality Todd English, a four-time James Beard Award winner, is curating special dinners in association with Great Performances Event Planning, who is is preparing them for guests in New York who order through Dîner en Blanc website.
To preserve spontaneity and secrecy, the très chic picnic takes over landmark public spaces in New York and other cities, whose locations are revealed at the last minute to the delight of thousands of attendees. In past years, the event as been outdoors at the Winter Garden, Lincoln Center and Bryant Park.
First launched in France in 1988, the Paris tradition has exploded in popularity with requests to host it pouring in from around the world.
Dîner en Blanc has also become a hugely popular venue for people to exhibit their unique fashion style and showcase their taste for design.
The wines in this year’s selection are priced between $10 and $55 and were selected by guest judges, which included leading sommeliers, prominent journalists, and wine educators.

Château de Cérons, Graves 2013 – Dry White
Les Hauts de Smith, Bordeaux 2013 – Rosé
Clos Magne Figeac, Saint-Emilion 2010 – Red
The impromptu picnic offers the ideal milieu to celebrate the art of living and savoring delicious cuisine while sipping exquisite Bordeaux wines.
Held, once more, in collaboration with co-host French Tuesdays, this fourth edition will be taking place on Monday August 25th, 2014 from 6:30pm-10pm.
Besides NY, it also returns to other cities nationwide including Los Angeles, through 2014,
