Now starring in Warner Bros. ‘The Good Lie’ as a straight-talking American woman who takes in a Sudanese refugee, Reese Witherspoon has no choice but to smile as the paparazzi find her on the telephone outside a medical center in Santa Monica, CA.

The movie now in theatres, Witherspoon who did her research told CNA; “I just didn’t want to do my part of the movie in Atlanta and just be an armchair activist,” she said. “I wanted to see what we were making a film about.”

After she finished filming, Witherspoon took her then 13-year-old daughter to visit the Kakuma refugee camp to learn more about the conditions and get to know some of the roughly 250,000 people who still live there.
