Julianne Moore jpeg CoverJulianne Moore has done it again, earning her fifth Oscar nomination for her portrayal of a mother of three who is struck with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease in the film Still Alice — and the spot as front runner for Best Actress at next week’s awards ceremony.

The gorgeous talent spoke with Parade. here’s some of the interview:

On why she thinks people are so touched by Still Alice:
“It’s a movie about mortality and being.  It makes us really think about our lives.  You’re never closer to loving life than when you’re closest to loss.”

On her four months of research for the film, talking to real women with Alzheimer’s, doctors working with patients, and visiting a long-term care facility, even taking a cognitive test herself for the experience:
“The most difficult thing for me as an actor is with accuracy, with specificity.  When you haven’t actually experienced something you have an obligation to be as precise as possible…I don’t want to represent anything on screen that I haven’t witnessed.  I don’t think it’s fair.”

On hoping Still Alice affects viewers that same way it did her:

“It’s uplifting.  We didn’t make it in the spirit of loss or diminishment.  Really, it’s about what you love, who you value and how much you love being alive.”

On why she admits she wants to win her first Academy Award:

“That’s the nomination from your peers.  It’s a very, very big deal.”

Julianne is a very big deal.
