The National Arts Club in collaboration with ArtOnCuba, celebrated the opening of one of Cuba’s most prominent artists, Carlos Quintana.
Guests including Carol Rosenberg, Dr. Alex Rosenberg, acclaimed photographers Anton Perich and Michael Halsband, viewed the collection at the historic location and enjoyed wine and canapés, in his first exhibition in New York ‘Images of a Place that Never Existed.’
Quintana’s work has been exhibited worldwide with shows in Beijing, Havana, Madrid, and as well. Born in Cuba in 1966, Quintana attended the famed San Alejandro Academy of Art and lived and worked in Madrid for 11 years before returning to Cuba in 2004.
The collection of work was made especially for the show, and will be on view to the public until May 30.
The evening also served as the U.S. launch of ArtonCuba, a source of information on Cuban visual arts served, and was part of the Cuban Culture Festival New York, created by American Friends of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba to celebrate its 15th anniversary building cultural bridges between the U.S. and Cuba through art projects.
