I couldn’t agree with you more Geno. There’s nothing more I’d rather do than forget last season.
Returning for another go-around as QB of the famed NY Jets, an optimistic Geno Smith thrilled to be back practicing and “happy to be this team’s quarterback”, talked to the media recently.
“I could only look forward to the day. I could not look ahead. No one knew what was going to happen. The thing about it was, we’re here right now, we have an opportunity and I look forward to every single day coming out and going to practice and competing with my guys and against that defense and like I said, it’s going to make us all better. If we continue to do what we need to do, continue to buy in, we’ll be fine. I hate to talk about the past because that’s so far gone.”
On how he felt he played the other day…
“We won one period and then we didn’t win the last one, but that’s what it’s all about, competing. We compete. I obviously wish I could have made a few more throws, but that’s always what you say coming off the practice field. But overall, we got better. My mind was sharp, I was in it the entire time. I think as the days go along and we build chemistry with one another on the offense, we will get better and better.
I love the fact that I get the opportunity to go out there every single day at practice and to prove myself. This job is stressful enough as a quarterback, as a player in this media (market), it’s always going to be stressful, but it’s something that we thrive on. We love it, we appreciate it and I’m happy to be here. I’m happy to be this team’s quarterback.”
