Marriott’s AC hotel brand will open its newest venture in the Caribbean breaking ground at 1369 Ashford Avenue in San Juan’s active Condado neighborhood, with a scheduled opening for the first quarter of 2017.
The property took over the former Radisson Ambassador Plaza & Casino, with a “comprehensive renovation of the property,” according to Marriot.
The site’s upgrade will be lead and performed by Interlink Construction for an estimated total investment of $45 million including the acquisition, renewal and opening of the AC Hotel San Juan. Banco Popular de Puerto Rico and the Hotel Development Corporation provided the project’s financing

The hotel will include 233 guest rooms, with 48 being suites.
The property will also include a rooftop swimming pool and lounge, meeting rooms, a fitness center, a restaurant and a lounge.

The hotel brand was founded in 1998 by Antonio Catalan; the company formed a joint venture with Marriott in 2011.
