Rihanna is busy.
The music superstar pictured last week in NYC filming Oceans Eight, the exciting new heist thriller co-starring other fabulous women like Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett just to name a few, also just announced a new fashion partnership.
Rihanna will collaborate with The New School’s Parsons School of Design, and fashion icon Donna Karan and her Urban Zen Foundation, as well as Haitian artists to develop a line of merchandise. Sales will support the Grammy winner’s Clara Lionel Foundation, founded five years ago benefiting impoverished communities worldwide in areas like health care and education.
Select students of the art and design school will work with local Haitian artists in Port-au-Prince at the Design, Organization, Training Center (D.O.T) co-founded by Karan, Parsons, and designer Paula Coles as a creative meeting place offering vocational training and materials to the Haitian artist community.
The students will travel to Haiti for six to eight weeks beginning in early June.
Rihanna will be honored at Parsons Benefit (Karan was honored last year), a fundraiser for scholarships for Parsons students, and announce the winners of the fellowship along with Karan at the event on May 22 in New York City.
