Penélope Cruz and Édgar Ramirez are the cover stars of Town & Country’s March issue, on newsstands nationwide February 6.
Cruz and Ramirez are pictured together for their first cover (not in costume) who currently portray siblings Donatella and Gianni Versace on the FX Series: The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
The cover story, written by celebrated fashion writer Kate Betts, highlights Cruz and Ramirez’s admiration for the Versace family, why they chose to do the FX series, and how they related to the unimaginable tragedy of the death of Gianni Versace.
The cover story was styled by T&C’s Nicoletta Santoro and Alex Weiderin both of whom were a part of iconic Versace fashion campaigns in the early 90s and 2000s.
SOME QUOTES
Cruz on Donatella Versace: “To me she [Donatella Versace] is like a heroine. She has demonstrated in so many ways in her life how to be an incredible woman.”
Ramírez on his admiration for Gianni Versace: “He [Gianni Versace] was a visionary and a disrupter, and we’re experiencing an era that he helped create aesthetically. There were no designers expressing that rock ‘n’ roll approach to couture before Gianni – this mix of sexuality and celebrity. The current obsession with fame started with Gianni.”
Cruz on her connection to the Versace siblings: “I could relate to that family emotion. Italian and Spanish people are very similar in that way. It’s like what I have with my brother and sister. Donatella, Santo, Gianni, what they had together they started together, and that family passion is very tight.”
