Timothée Chalamet and Austin Butler may play sworn enemies in ‘Dune: Part Two,’ but off screen, they’re all about that bromance. The duo discover they have more in common than they realized in ELLE’s Ask Me Anything video series, from their first acting gigs with Disney to their experiences hosting SNL. The actors also go behind the scenes of ‘Little Women,’ recall the wildest headlines they read about themselves, and reveal their skincare routine.
Timothée Chalamet on his first acting job in a Disney commercial: “It was a commercial for Disney Channel. And they cast an English language speaking kid, a Spanish language speaking kid. And then I was the French Canadian audience. So I had a dialect coach for one line and we shot in Disney World at 3 a.m. because that’s the only time in the park no one’s there… And then I went back to school, you know, bragging about having been a commercial. No one believed me. It didn’t air enough for anyone to see it. My mom still has the commercial, though.”
Austin Butler on his first job ever acting on Hannah Montana: “My first job was, I’ve never had a real job other than acting, the first time I was ever paid as an actor was on Hannah Montana… It was an episode where she get set up on a blind date. I’m there and at first she’s excited and then we’re watching a horror film and I’m terrified during the film just screaming, just losing my mind. So it turns out to be a bad blind date.”
Timothée Chalamet on his current style icon: “Right now, I’m gonna go with Kenny ‘The Jet’ Smith on Inside The NBA TNT because I feel like he has varying style, but he’s also very bold and confident about when he just wants to rock sneakers with a suit and I admire that.”
