John Stamos who has been acting since he had us girls swooning in his role as ‘Blackie’ in ‘General Hospital,’ wants to stop taking roles that other people thinks he should be taking and start doing what he wants to be doing. So, why not start with a deep, dark and vicious role in crime show ‘Law & Order: SVU’ where he plays a wealthy venture capitalist who is a reproductive abuser. Said Stamos, “This role scared the hell out of me unlike any other character I’ve ever seen or read anywhere. Basically, he loves children and gets women pregnant without them knowing by basically poking holes in condoms and manipulating them into having children. I found it so fascinating. Roles like this are the ones I should be doing and where I should be going in my career.” Executive Producer Neal Baer got this outrageous storyline from a conference he was at and did some research and that’s how the show came about. Why Stamos for the role? “We wanted appealing, affable, very handsome and completely charming with women” said Baer. “We wanted a John Stamos type.” And they got it, the real thing. Stamos who has been guest spotting all over the tube lately, first ‘Entourage’ and most recently ‘Glee’ ended with, “This is the farthest thing on TV I’ve ever done from who I really am. The ending is quite dramatic and jaws will drop.” See veteran actor John Stamos step out of his comfort zone along with 80’s beauty Lori Singer as they guest star on ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Wednesday, May 4 at 10p ET on NBC.
