Spoke to season 2 host model Eva Marcille and Judge Derek J about the fantasy hair show which each week has contestants creating outrageous crops resembling everything from Hollywood stars including Gaga, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj to hounds and handbags. The drama of living under one roof also adds to the drama of competing for the $100,000 prize.

Said Eva on if she used to watch the show and why she became part of it, “I have watched the show and pop culture has definitely taken on fantasy hair as one of the leading things right now and if you look at like Lady Gaga who came to the award show in an egg with crazy hair and crazy fashion, that’s what we play off of. We kind of shed a light on what’s going on in our pop culture outside of what’s just simple and mainstream. And that was so intriguing to me because I see everything. I mean being blessed to be in this business, you see it all. But fantasy hair is something you don’t see on everyday basis but it’s something that you want to know about. So that’s why I kept tuning in.”

Added Derek J on why we should watch, “I think the show is everybody and its fun. It’s a fun show at the end of the day. So regardless if you’re a hair stylist or not, if you’re not into fantasy you know it’s just seeing it being done and being created and just seeing creativity at its best you know, dealing with hair. So it’s going to relate to anyone. They are going to love the show.”

This season premiering Monday, August 15 at 10p ET on Oxygen has a few contestants from the New York area, along with Rachel Zoe’s ex-assistant Taylor Jacobson serving as second judge.  Pictured: ‘Camouflage’ hairstyle, Derek J and Eva Marcille.
