Recording artist SIR IVAN aka “Peaceman” kicked off a transgender awareness campaign with a special screening of his documentary film “SIR IVAN: I Am Peaceman” at the Angelika Theater last week. Attendees included “Orange is the New Black” star Selenis Levya, Real Housewives of New York’s Sonja Morgan and the night’s co-host Frankie Grande.
Sir Ivan presented The Trevor Project’s Executive Director Abbe Land with a $10,000 check to specifically aide in their transgender suicide prevention programs.
Transgender awareness is a new area of focus for Sir Ivan’s Peaceman Foundation, which has been a longtime supporter of LGBT issues, fighting hate crime, bullying and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
He and The Peaceman Foundation donated $100,000 to The Trevor Project in 2012, and earlier this year they donated and additional $100,000 to ten different anti-bullying organizations, bringing total donations to over $200,000.
Following the film, singer Aaron Paul, androgynous model Rain Dove, LGBT advocate and Orange is the New Black star Selenis Leyva were among the 100 guests invi8ted to Peaceman’s Penthouse Pad for a cocktail reception and dance party with music by DJ Kris Graham.
