Samsung 837 celebrated the Opening Ceremony of the 2016 Olympic Games with world champion Olympic athlete Lolo Jones.

The track and field superstar joined TV host Alicia Quarles on stage for a “Rio Remotely” event and discussed all things technology and what it’s really like to represent your country in the world’s largest sporting event.

Here’s some:

  • Lolo Jones on how Samsung Gear VR can enhance an athlete’s performance: “Athletes use visualization to improve their performance. It’s actually proven that by visualizing, you can improve your skills. When I put on the Samsung Gear VR, I noticed instantly how much this could be used as a training tactic. With Gear VR, athletes don’t have to visualize, they can just be there in the moment. I can really see this being used for Olympic teams moving forward.
  • Lolo Jones on how it feels to finally watch the Olympics from home: “If I’m going to watch the Olympics from home, I want to be surrounded by people – and it’s great to be here with New Yorkers who have so much pride for team USA.”
  • Lolo on the best Olympic advice she ever received: “One of my coach’s favorite sayings is control what you can control. For instance, I can’t control my training, but I can control my thoughts about it. I can control my actions, whether I choose to focus on my technique or the weather. I always remind myself to take a deep breath and control what I can control.”

Ivanka Trump on Chelsea Clinton: “I still consider her a very close friend, and she considers me as well”

Wow, that seems hard to believe after all the NASTY things said about each of their families, but that is what Ivanka Trump said in the September issue of Harper’s BAZAAR, on newsstands August 16.

Perched atop New York City clad in Carolina Herrera and Manolo Blahnik, Donald Trump’s oldest daughter not only talked about her relationship with Chelsea Clinton, she opens up on family, her sister Tiffany, her father and his controversial bid for the White House, feminism, and more.

Here’s some:

On the rumors that she is the one calling the shots with her father’s campaign:

“I’m definitely not. His campaign is his campaign. We have worked together for over a decade, and I love my father, I respect my father. I also understand him and how he thinks… My role is daughter. I’m his daughter… My siblings and I volunteer our opinions, solicited or not, and I think most children do that with their parents.”

On Donald meeting Jared Kushner (Ivanka’s husband) for the first time:

“From the first time Jared and my father met, they liked each other. They initially bonded over me, and then they bonded over real estate.”

On the reports that her friendship with Chelsea Clinton had been “suspended” due to the campaign:

“I still consider her a very close friend, and she considers me as well. We have a great relationship. I’m not running for public office, and neither is she, so of course we’re still friends.”

On if she would ever go into politics:

“I made the mistake of once saying, ‘Never say never.’ I do believe that in life there are so many things I’m doing today that I never thought I’d be doing, so I generally take that perspective. But I said that, and the headline was IVANKA MIGHT RUN FOR OFFICE, so… But, no, it’s not something I think I would ever do.”

Actress/Mom Eva Mendes talks designing feminine-chic clothing for all & luxurious affordable make-up

latina magazine-eva mendes_new york gossip gal_ryan gosling-ny & co_circa beauty

Sexy Eva Mendes covers Latina Magazine hitting stands on August 9th, her first magazine cover and interview since giving birth to her second daughter, Amada Lee, with boyfriend Ryan Gosling.

In the September issue embracing Old Hollywood’s art of glamour, the actress and Creative Director of CIRCA, opens up about her children, losing her older brother and her role as #MomBoss, taking charge with her brands – CIRCA Beauty and NY & Co.

Here’s some of what the Hollywood A-Lister and natural beauty who grew up not far from Hollywood had to say.

Eva on the inspiration behind her companies—“These two companies really satisfy a certain part of me that I love to connect to. I love women. I have two sisters, my amazing mother, and girlfriends that have been friends since I was a kid. And we’re still super, super, super close. Whether it’s designing dresses or coming up with an affordable makeup line, those things are exciting because it takes me back to my youth and my love of my female support system that I come from. Also remembering not having much [growing up] allows me to achieve my goal of paying my mother’s bills. My goal is to continue paying her bills. That’s still something I care about.”

Eva on the loss of her brother— “Losing my brother brought our family closer, and we were already close to begin with. So to just see everybody be there for one another and show up, I feel so lucky to have them. And then they were there for me when Amada was born. We had a funeral service for him and that same week I had the baby. So it was really, really intense and obviously beyond heartbreaking, but also kind of beautiful.”

Eva on her current hiatus from filming—“ I’m not sure, but it would definitely take something really special. I don’t like saying, “take me away,” but essentially that’s what work does. I think it can be very, very healthy if it’s something that feels worthwhile. Right now I feel very fortunate to be home with my kids. I feel so lucky, and I’m just taking advantage of that.”
