We haven’t seen much of actor Billy Baldwin as of late, but he made sure to attend both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions and show support for his choice for next President of the United States.

The actor/producer/writer attended various events given by The Creative Coalition, a non-profit,  non-partisan charity that uses the power and platform of the arts and entertainment communities in award-winning public service and advocacy campaigns.

Trump is not “fit for the presidency” said Baldwin during a luncheon at the Republican National Convention. “He’s not deserving. I know him — I don’t know him well — but I know him from events, parties and from judging the Miss Universe contest,” he told the the Daily Caller. “I don’t like the way he bullies people or treats women. I think Donald Trump does not possess the qualities that you need in a president or in a leader.”

Baldwin, seen here at The Creative Coalition’s Benefit Gala during the Democratic National Convention, also told the publication that he’s voting for Hillary Clinton. On the opposite end of the spectrum is Baldwin’s younger brother Stephen, a former contestant on The Apprentice, who’s voting for Trump.

History-making duo FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE is once again on top as “H.O.L.Y.” takes the #1 spot on both Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase charts this week.

The lead single from DIG YOUR ROOTS – arriving August 26 on Big Machine Label Group – has also dominated the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for 11 weeks.

“H.O.L.Y.” marks FGL’s eleventh #1 collectively as artists and songwriters.

“From the college guys we were when ‘Cruise’ came out to starting our families, it’s been really cool to see our fans and radio embrace the music BK and I make,” said Tyler Hubbard. “‘H.O.L.Y.’ is personally so special to us … thank you to everyone who took it to the top!”

The pair penned over half of the songs and recorded with veteran producer Joey Moi, who stands firm at the helm of FGL’s sound.

The award-winning duo collaborated with Superstar artists Tim McGraw, The Backstreet Boys and Ziggy Marley on the forthcoming project, and fans who pre-order DIG YOUR ROOTS via http://smarturl.it/DigYourRoots will receive an immediate download of “Smooth” and “May We All” (featuring Tim McGraw).

“Tyler and I have been beyond blessed to have so much support throughout our career and are continually grateful when these moments happen,” adds Brian Kelley. “Here’s to digging a little deeper and soaring even higher with our fans every night out on the road!”

Notching over 1.5 million tickets sold in 2015 alone, FGL continues the successful streak with heavily sold-out crowds during their headline DIG YOUR ROOTS TOUR, further “cementing FGL as a bona fide headliner after just two albums” (Oakland Press). Throughout the end of 2016, The Cadillac Three, Cole Swindell and Kane Brown will join the high-octane pair.

Since breaking out in 2012 with the mega smash “Cruise,” FGL have solidified their place as one of the elite acts in Country music, earning prestigious honors from the AMA, ACM Awards, CMA Awards, Billboard Music Awards and CMT. Their previous releases – 2X PLATINUM debut HERE’S TO THE GOOD TIMES and PLATINUM ANYTHING GOES – have attributed to sales nearing 26 million tracks, over 3.5 million albums worldwide and RIAA DIAMOND-certification for “Cruise,” solidifying the hit as the only Country single to ever reach sales of over 10 million copies. Their massive debut also overtook the record for longest #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

VIP’s, media and guests packed the grounds at the Bridgehampton Historical Museum awaiting the arrival of supermodel Christie Brinkley like we were back in the 80’s when she was the “it” girl.

Beyond gorgeous and perfectly put together at 62-years young, the stunning mom of three who’s dating hot rocker John Mellencamp, made a grand entrance in a short white outfit with flowing cape to host the fifth annual St. Barth Hamptons gala presented by Social Life Magazine and St. Barth Tourism.

She walked and talked the red carpet to the eager press while the crowd hovered around desperately snapping away to get some pics of the gal who once graced more than 500 magazine covers including three consecutive Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues, as well as spending over-25 years as the face of CoverGirl comesmetics, the longest running cosmetics contract for a model in history.

Along for the ride were her two youngest; 18-year old daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook and 21-year old son Jack Brinkley-Cook. While mom “worked” the crowd, the well-mannered kids and their friends hung out with the crowd seamlessly blending in.

At the fête celebrating the global icon’s third cover story for the luxury lifestyle publication,  Christie mingled and posed for selfies with fans, who all wanted to know about her Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare, and Christie’s exclusive Hair2wear lines.

Over 750 guests including Social Life publisher Justin Mitchell, celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch, artist Kevin Berlin, and professional poker player Beth Shak, enjoyed Christie’s new Organic Prosecco, Bellissima, hors d’oeuvres and a Starbucks coffee bar before dancing the night away to the sounds of DJ Lee Kalt.

Sponsored by Patio.com, a portion of the proceeds from the special event benefitted the Bridgehampton Historical Museum.

Cyndi Lauper brings it time after time

cyndi lauper_aarp the magazine_new york gossip galSuperstar musician/actress/activist Cyndi Lauper is still bringing it after all these years.

With a career spanning over 30 years, the unique singer, and amazingly talented songwriter has been an activist for the LGBT community before it was common.   She sets trends, outspoken when needed, and her songs have resonated with people from all walks of life.

The young looking 63-year old Queens native spoke to AARP The Magazine about many things including fame, fortune, aging, and politics. Here’s some.

On North Carolina law banning transgender people from using the bathroom of the gender they identify

“Where I come from, you don’t let you friends and family be stripped of their civil rights.”  But unlike other artists, including Bruce Springsteen, who canceled their concerts in the state, Lauper went ahead with her Raleigh show and donated the proceeds to a local LGBT charity. “Just my money,” she adds quickly. “Set people, electricians – all those guys need to get paid.”

On the 2016 election

Despite having appeared on Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice, in 2010, Lauper is a staunch supporter of a certain female candidate for president.  But she wants to be clear: “I’ll never tell people what to think, but I will beg them to think.  Not to just blindly follow along.”

On her career and staying relevant as a pop star

“Don’t listen.  I find it remarkable when the ‘industry people’ try to pigeonhole you, like they know.  Even me, I don’t know what I can do.  I want to be great, but I don’t know if I can be great, so I just have to keep trying.”

“You can’t live your whole life worrying about staying famous.  If losing some fame means doing what you want, you gotta go with what you want.”

“They can say what they want [about my legacy].  They’ve been saying everything anyway.  I don’t give a hoot.  I am who I am.  I don’t apologize for any of it.  But I do hope that what I do in my art inspires people – that it makes ‘em happy and makes ‘em think.”

“I wouldn’t listen to the naysayers and haters.  Who cares? The people who succeed are the people who don’t quit.”

“I wanna hear everything and keep learning about music.  If I’m gonna invest my time, I want it to be great, because that’s what I’m leaving behind, besides the human beings I adore.”

“I had a dream one time.  I climbed the ladder and then let the ladder fall because I couldn’t just stand where I was.  I wanted to be my own artist, to sing the rhythm of my own speech.”

On aging

“Age has nothing to do with it.  You’ll get wherever it is you want to go at whatever time in your life you want to do it.”

“My mother has a little dementia.  She lives in the present.  The good thing is, I can talk to her and tell her stuff that I really shouldn’t tell anybody, and she’ll give me these wonderful words of wisdom that a mother does.  But then, 10 minutes later she’ll forget.”

“I think I have reached an age when I can have pink hair if I want – or blue hair.  But blue, it turns a little green, so right now I am going with the pink.”

“We are brainwashed about what age you’re supposed to marry, what age you’re supposed to have a kid, what age you’re supposed to do this or that.  Oh my god! Who died and left those people in charge?”

On her gain and loss of fortune

“I was never smart about money like Prince.  I wish I wasn’t taken advantage of so much.”

On her manager losing faith in her career

He told her “You’ll never be as big as you were” – Yet she refused to fire him.  “Why didn’t I say, ‘if you don’t believe in me, you shouldn’t be working for me’?  I couldn’t.  He had a family.  And I guess there were times I didn’t think I was worthy either, because I was always told I was a pain in the ass, and why can’t I just stand there and sing?”

On her son’s aspiration to be a hip-hop artist and giving and receiving advice

“I love my kid so f—ing much, I can’t take it.”  Yet for Lauper, the main issue at the moment is that, though her son is an aspiring hip-hop artist, he refuses to take her advice.  Still she’s sanguine.  “I’d get mad when people gave me advice, too.  I still do.  I’ll ask my husband what he thinks of what I’m wearing, and he’ll say, ‘I don’t really like it,’ and I’ll weare it anyway.  So why ask the poor bastard?”
