Keri Russell Gears Up For Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker!

Keri Russell is the cover star of Town & Country’s Dec/Jan 2020 issue on newstands now.

Russell is gearing up for her role as Zori Bliss in the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywal film in theaters December 20.

Russell opens up to Town & Country about what she liked about wearing a mask for her Star Wars role, how she balances work and family life with her husband, actor Matthew Rhys, and her three children, along with if she believes she has an expiration date in Hollywood, and more.

On being in a mask for her Star Wars character, Zorri Bliss: “…It was very attractive, the idea of not being the lead. The mask – I felt safe in it. And tough.”

On balancing work and family life: “I see a lot of other people who have great ambition, but I feel as if my life is so full, with little kids. I’m not hungry for a certain type kind of success.”

On being shy in front of the camera: “Being photographed is a skill, and I’m not good at it. I’m a shy person, so it’s embarrassing. And I’m 43 now, so I’m able to say it’s embarrassing to me. It’s weird. I always look bad!”

On if she feels she has an expiration date in Hollywood: “I do think about it. And I feel that [the time dwindling for roles] should sort of be now. But at the same time, I just got an incredible offer to do something. A really, really rich story. Maybe it doesn’t stop.”

On social media: “I know a little bit about Instagram. I like to look at pretty things.”

Sneak Peak Season Three of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime Dec 6

mrs. maisel, parade magazine, new york gossip gal

Get a sneak peek of season three of the Emmy-winning series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (on Amazon Prime Dec. 6) in a new issue of Parade, featuring exclusive interviews with Rachel Brosnahan and creator Amy Sherman-Palladino.

Light and bright. “Our show is so hopeful,” says Brosnahan of the critically acclaimed and award-winning period comedy about “Midge” Maisel, a Manhattan housewife who discovers she has a knack for stand-up comedy in the late 1950s. “It’s colorful, it’s light and it makes people feel good.”

Fashion forward. Fans also love the show’s eye-popping fashions and vibrant styling details, from dresses and hats to shoes and makeup. “It’s about the spirit of the time period,” says production designer Bill Groom, who won four Emmys for his work on Boardwalk Empire. This season, as the setting changes when the characters take a trip to sunny Miami, the style palette also gets a makeover. Some of the scenes were shot at the world-famous Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach, which was partially redecorated with era-appropriate furniture, statues and lamps.

Hoofing it. This season, just like Ann-Margret, Bob Hope, Nancy Sinatra and many other stars of the period, Midge will take her talent to the USO—as part of a troupe of tap dancers.

Look who’s back! Jane Lynch returns to her Emmy-winning role as comedian Sophie Lennon, a competitor to Midge. This season, Midge’s father, Abe (Tony Shalhoub), will leave his position at Columbia University and move out of his gorgeous Upper West Side apartment. And you’ll have to wait and watch to see just what happens with a new character played by mystery man Sterling K. Brown!

For more about the Marvelous World of Mrs. Maisel, see this week’s Parade or go to Parade.com.

Town & Country magazine released a new feature on “Men and Jewelry: A Love Story” to celebrate for the first time in the history of the Tiffany Blue Book, that men’s high jewelry pieces have been added in a series of lapel pins and signet rings.

Actor Justin Theroux (and his dog, Kuma), Olympic Fencer Miles Chamley Watson, Dancer & Actor Robbie Fairchild, Artist Adam Pendleton, Actor Patrick Vaill (currently on Broadway in Oklahoma), and the late artist John Giorno (1936-2019) were all photographed by Reed Krakoff, Tiffany & Co.’s chief artistic director, for Town & Country.

Further inside the feature, Jennifer Aniston’s ex, who happened to attend her “Friendsgiving” dinner, shares what pieces of jewelry he always wears and why, Watson describes how jewelry makes him feel, Krakoff speaks to how he envisions men wearing the new Tiffany pieces, and much more.

Credit: Reed Krakoff

Justin Theroux on what jewelry he wears and why: “I always wear a signet ring on my right hand and a gold watch. Once I lock in on things, they’re what I wear for years.”

Theroux on his other favorite collector’s item, vintage t-shirts: “I’ve collected them since I was a kid.”

Miles Chamley Watson on his love for jewelry: “Jewelry is something I wear every day. I sleep with my earrings in and two necklaces on. You have to look good to feel good, and if I’m not wearing jewelry I feel naked.”

John Giorno (1936-2019): “I love the idea of a man wearing a brooch. In the 17th and 18th centuries men wore elaborate jewelry pieces, and I’m fascinated by that. There’s no reason a man can’t do that today.”

Adam Pendleton: “I’m about simplicity and consistency,” says the Virginia-born artist, who is known for hsi paintings and screen prints and has an upcoming exhibition at Boston’s Isabelle Stewart Gardner Museum. “If you make certain things in your life simple, you can make other thingslike how you articulate what’s on your mind – more complex.”

Reed Kraoff, Tiffany & Co.’s chief artistic officer: “I saw an opportunity to speak to men who appreciate beauty and design. For many men it will be the first time they have worn or even considered wearing such a piece. While these pieces are ‘high jewelry,’ it doesn’t mean they need to be worn in a formal way. You could as easily wear one of the brooches with a denim jacket.”

The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF) 22nd Anniversary Collaborating for a Cure Gala raised a record of nearly $6 Million for innovative research studying cancer genetics and metastasis. The event sold out in advance, and set a record for the SWCRF and their cutting-edge research, which was the most raised in the event’s history.

Emceed by CBS 2’s Chris Wragge, the event drew nearly 1,000 guests who celebrated the SWCRF’s research achievements and honorees Kobi Halperin, Valery Joseph, and Marc Taub, who received the SWCRF Collaborating for Cure awards.

Prior to the event, the Gladstein Family presented the SWCRF with a $1 million gift and a challenge to supporters to match their gift dollar-for-dollar. The generous gift will support the SWCRF Gladstein Bladder Cancer Research Program and will fund in part, a research collaboration between the SWCRF and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Craig B. Thompson, president and CEO of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, made brief remarks as one of the Waxman Gala program presenters.

Guests at this year’s gala were treated to a special performance by Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, who just released their fifth studio album and will finish a tour opening for legendary bands such as The Rolling Stones and The Who.

Mr. Halperin, Mr. Joseph, and Mr. Taub each shared personal stories of how cancer has indelibly touched their lives. Mr. Joseph received a standing ovation after recounting his late wife Revi Joseph’s battle with ovarian cancer, which had gone into remission after her initial treatment only to recur two years later. “The innovative ways, in which the Samuel Waxman Foundation uses collaborative research, has inspired me to help. Research around how, why, and when cancers come back, is what I intend to focus my fundraising efforts on. When cancers come back, they are usually more aggressive, on the body of the patient, and on the spirit of the entire family.”

Mr. Kobi explained that both his mother and aunt are breast cancer survivors and credited them in inspiring his interest in fashion. His father, a Holocaust survivor, and mother and other family members traveled from Israel for the SWCRF Gala. “I grew up in a home familiar with loss and grieving for those who had suffered. And from this loss and anguish came a drive and passion to push forth and an inspiration to not just survive, but to succeed. Thank you for allowing me to join the effort of the Waxman Foundation and their quest to find a cure for this terrible disease.”

Mr. Taub was honored for both his philanthropy and leadership as a member of the SWCRF Board of Directors. “The mission of eradicating cancer is a call to our generation. In many aspects of life, we talk about six degrees of separation and the measure of social distance between people. When it comes to cancer, unfortunately, it’s never more than one degree. This is why the work of the Waxman Foundation’s Institutes Without Walls mission is so critical to saving lives. It’s the work that’s being done every day that leads us to where we all want to be: with a cure to this insidious disease.”

Notable attendees included: Dr. Samuel Waxman, Marion Waxman, Kobi Halperin, Valery Joseph, Marc Taub, Chris Wragge Elin Nierenberg, Michael Nierenberg, Jake Taub, Sandy Taub, William T. Sullivan, Donata Minelli Yirmiyahu, Craig B. Weiner, Alyssa Greenberg, Cliff Greenberg, Maria Fishel, Bradley Fishel, Erica Fineberg, and Gary Jacob.

The evening’s live auction, led by Hugh Hildesley, Executive Vice President of Sotheby’s, featured luxury items and experiences including: a Palm Bay Italy Winery experience; not one but TWO Cockapoo Puppies; and meet-and-greet with the evening’s musical guests, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, who also autographed a guitar for the lucky winner.

This year, the SWCRF has so far funded more than $2 million for a record of fifty world-class scientists who are working collaboratively to research cancer.
