Jennifer Aniston Joins Celebrity Swarm To Montecito

Jennifer Aniston has joined a surge of other celebrities heading to or already living in Montecito, California. Jennifer just bought one of Oprah’s Montecito collection: a four-bedroom home for $14.8 million. Jennifer will be rubbing elbows in Montecito with some of the world’s biggest stars and their homes, including Adam Levine, Ellen DeGeneres and Gwyneth Paltrow. Oprah still owns several homes in the area including her main mansion: the 66-acre Promised Land estate and a home she recently bought from Jeff Bridges.

The high-stakes game of real estate Monopoly continues in Montecito, where celebrity home flippers like Ellen DeGeneres and Adam Levine have earned second fortunes via buying and selling some of the area’s most extravagant estates. The latest A-lister to cash out is media titan Oprah Winfrey, who records show has lucratively sold a large estate in two separate transactions totaling roughly $17 million. Siteline Santa Barbara first reported the deals.

Winfrey quietly acquired the property in early 2021, paying $10.5 million. The sellers were New York hedge fund manager Fred Shuman and his wife Stephanie, who assembled the 2.1-acre, multi-parcel spread over many years; the sprawling complex included a Mediterranean-style main house, two small cottages and lush grounds.

Because the property was never publicly offered for sale, details of what happened over the following 18 months are somewhat vague. But Winfrey appears to have split the former Shuman estate into two parts and sold each half to different buyers, both of them her friends. In mid-August, the two small cottages were sold for $2.3 million to Bob Greene, Winfrey’s longtime personal trainer and property manager. The following week, the Mediterranean main house went for nearly $14.8 million to actress Jennifer Aniston.

While there aren’t any photos floating around of the new Aniston villa, decades-old permit documents and other tax data provide some home details. Built in 1998, the so-called “Tuscan farmhouse” was sold the following year to the Shumans, who paid $2.8 million. The couple gave the property a renovation in 2008; today, the somewhat U-shaped structure includes four bedrooms, three full baths and one powder room in more than 4,000 square feet. There’s also some sort of tiny detached guesthouse or standalone gym building on the heavily wooded premises, which span more than an acre.

Aniston will also enjoy grassy lawns, well-kept gardens, terraces for entertaining, numerous mature oak trees and a motorcourt that can easily accommodate fifteen cars. The long driveway is gated, and the house is invisible from the street. A decades-old listing mentions the home’s “panoramic ocean and mountain views,” which were likely a big selling point here.

Real estate mogul Winfrey still owns many other homes, including the much larger estate right next door to Aniston’s new home — a $30+ million compound she quietly acquired back in 2012 from Diandra Luker, the ex-wife of actor Michael Douglas. But the OWN network founder’s main residence remains her 66-acre “Promised Land” estate (below), located elsewhere in Montecito, which is anchored by a 20,000-square-foot mansion.

For Cosmopolitan’s latest issue, the first-ever print issue devoted entirely to the subject of mental health, editor-in-chief Jessica Giles spoke to VP Kamala Harris about the Biden administration’s plan to expand mental health care, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, and how she handles her own high-stress position. (It involves sweat.)

Plus, in coordination with the issue, Cosmo has debuted a comprehensive digital package on mental wellness. Included in the package are three personal essays from influential people our readers love that explore nuanced facets of mental health care: Tanaye White, a Sports Illustrated model, about her secret battle with depression; actress Ashley Tisdale reveals her lifelong panic attacks and her inspiration for the self-care line Frenshe; and writer and advocate Madeleine Popelka, who founded the Insta-community @healingfromPTSD, on her trauma journey. Finally, Cosmo has also published a deep-dive on 9-8-8, the new suicide hotline operated by SAMHSA, to connect our readers with the resources they need.

Vice President Kamala Harris on the Future of Mental Wellness—and How We Get There:

“For too long, when we as a society have thought about health care, we have operated as though the body starts from the neck down. But we need to care for people as whole people—and that includes taking care of their mental health and well-being.”

Sports Illustrated Model Tanaye White: Depression Doesn’t Have an End Date—or a Specific Look

“Depression does not have a finish line. It’s a journey that follows you throughout your life—there is no fourth base or touchdown—it just continues. I’m so passionate about transforming the hardships I went through into something useful for others on their journeys.”

Ashley Tisdale: I Struggled to Navigate My Anxiety for Years—Now I’m Committed to Helping Others:

“I started having panic attacks before I even knew there was a word for that overwhelming feeling.”

“It’s been over a decade since my panic attacks started, and in the time that has passed, I’ve found that there’s no shame in admitting when I need help. There will always be new challenges, but now I know that the next time I fall down, I won’t have to go through it alone.”

Author Madeline Popelka on How to Overcome PTSD:

“It takes courage to face your past. While it will be messy and uncomfortable and challenging every step of the way, I can already tell you’ll have the strength to make it. It may not feel like it at this moment, but I promise you’re going to be okay.”

Men’s Health: Luke Macfarlane Layers Up for Fall

In a new fall style feature, actor Luke Macfarlane layers up for fall and chats about his leading role in Bros and more.

Unpredictable temps mean dressing for fall is trickier than ever. Luckily, today’s best clothes are versatile, easy to throw on (and off), and great looking. In a fashion feature for the upcoming November issue of Men’s HealthBros’ breakout rom-com star Luke Macfarlane shows us how to layer fall’s best wardrobe additions and opens up about his breakout rom-com role in Bros, his personal style, and what he’d be doing if he wasn’t an actor.

Of the film, which  features a mostly LGBTQ+ cast and is the first gay romantic comedy made by a major studio:“[Universal Pictures] is sticking its neck out. It wasn’t that long ago that a lot of the stuff we get up to in the movie was against the law in many states.”

On whether working on an R-rated rom-com was different than his starring roles in Hallmark Movie Channel flicks:

“The kisses are a little bit longer, but it’s the same idea: Two people that we wanna see together get together. R-rated just means you gotta do a few extra pushups before the scene.”

On his audition for the role: “That audition was right out of a movie. I stepped into a tiny room, and it was filled with all of the most powerful people that make big decisions in Hollywood, including Judd Apatow, Nicholas Stoller, and Billy Eichner, who also wrote the screenplay. I connected with Billy pretty quickly. I find him really fun.”

On how he’d describe his character, Aaron:
“I think Aaron, in a lot of ways, is probably somebody that carefully follows some of the style suggestions from Men’s Health. He cares about his appearance, he cares about his nutrition, and working out. But I think the more we get to know Aaron, the more we reveal there’s this whole other side of him that he’s been afraid to show to the world. I feel like as Luke, I can say that it’s through his vulnerabilities that he’s finally able to express himself, which makes him a really interesting guy. That was a fun journey to go on as an actor.”

On the parts of Aaron’s journey he related to most, and the parts that were different:
“Sadly I’m not a chocolatier. I don’t know a lot about chocolate making, so that was new to me. I am a hockey fan though, and it was a thing that Aaron was into hockey. So that part came before I got the role. My interest in Garth Brooks was something that was added to the script. I think Billy found that so incredibly amusing that I think Garth Brooks is the greatest. I just think he is amazing, and Billy was like, ‘Garth Brooks?!’ Billy is always talking about Mariah Carey. She’s somebody who’s very important to him, and he was surprised I didn’t know much about Mariah Carey, but that I knew so much about Garth Brooks.”

On his personal style:“I’ve been hearing this term Classic American Heritage Workwear, which is something that pops up a lot with me. Durability over style. Form-fitting when possible. I have to be careful sometimes. Whenever I buy a pair of sneakers, people say to me that they look like trail running shoes. You can’t only have trail running shoes.”

On what he’d be doing if he wasn’t an actor:
“I am endlessly curious. Ask me any week and I’m always gonna be into something else. I do have a hobby in woodworking, and I get great satisfaction and calm from that. So I would likely be building furniture for a living.”

On another goal he’d like to achieve this year:“I’ve actually booked a trip to climb Argentina’s Mount Aconcagua this Christmas. It’s the highest mountain in the Americas. I’ve climbed mountains before, but this is about a thousand meters higher than any mountain I’ve climbed.”

The November issue of Men’s Health hits stands October 18.

SohoMuse, “the trusted source for creative professionals” co-founded by Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin, seventh generation heiress of shipping and railroad tycoon Cornelius Vanderbilt, in collaboration with Jez & LiveRocketStudios, attracted a ‘swelligent’ crowd from the worlds of finance, society, celebrity, fashion & tech.

Set in the sexy, all black, two story LiveRocketStudios event space at 199 Water Street in New York City, Founded by Mark Bozek (QVC & HSN fame, now online streaming pioneer) in the newly renovated Seaport Area, “Ignite The Runway’ was presented in this “salon noire” which featured two circular staircases which proved to be a magnificent backdrop for this innovative manipulation of Fashion, Music & Art & Tech, succinctly woven into a tapestry of visual eye candy whereby each fashion designer & performer was introduced by their beautiful muse and Hostess of the evening (ala-Moulin Rouge), Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin (herself a Billboard Recording Artist) who dawned their creations as she introduced musical performances interspersed between each designer’s debuting of their micro-collections for SS23.

Participating Fashion Designers included: Victor de Souza, In Earnest by Byron Lars & Sheila Gray, Celestino by Sergio Guadarrama & Kade Johnson, Argenis and Manuel Tiscareno.

This unconventional manner of showcasing design collections emulated that of a cabaret or Broadway show rather than the traditional designer collective with a traditional runway. Guests marveled at the fashions, enjoyed the stellar performances from Tarralyn Ramsey-Pop-Gospel Singer, Sydney Palmier-Indie-Pop chanteuse, Mari Burelle, in addition to a special performance by the Joffrey Ballet School dancers who performed to songs by Lady Gaga.

On the 2nd floor, Sohomuse utilized the massive raw space to curate an art exhibition enlisting Israeli-born, nature-infusing artist, Rotem Reshef whose sprawling naturescape canvases gave the impression of being in a forest with compositions emulating fluid streams of consciousness which were actually painted with elements of flora which you could actually smell (gardenia), Juxtaposed against those were cutting-edge LED backlit cityscapes from artist Michael Victor, quirky illustrations from new artists, 18 year old Remy Rivers and model/artist Emma Deegan who also walked in runway shows.  Afterwards guests were encouraged to join The afterparty which included the sounds of DJ Griffin.

Models included: Sophie Sumner, Alex Lundquist, Coco Mitchell, Devon Ramirez and more…

Sohomuse, since its inception, has taken the path less traveled by in supporting their global community of creatives and always serving up experiential evenings, online master glasses, topical symposiums which showcase their the multiple verticals of creativity and highlight topical issues of the day.

Additionally, a trailer for an upcoming documentary concerning the history of the Vanderbilt family’s interest in Fashion and how Consuelo is helping to connect the next generation of Creatives  will be released at the Sugar Loaf Film Festival 2022.

Reality superstar Kim Kardashian has had a busy year. Within the last twelve months, the socialite-cum-business mogul finalized her divorce to rapper Kanye West, got together with actor Pete Davidson and then broke up with him, officially became a billionaire, helped Afghanistan’s women’s soccer team escape the Taliban, and passed California’s “baby bar” law exam. In between running her mega-successful brands KKW Beauty and Skims and raising four children, Kardashian has also made some big moves in the real estate market. She has listed a Vincent Van Duysen-designed condo in Calabasas (featured on Keeping up With the Kardashians and formerly an office for her shapewear line, Skims) for sale for $3.5 million. She paid her ex-husband, Kanye, $23 million for his share of the sprawling Calabasas mansion where the couple had lived with their kids since 2014, and picked up an even more spectacular property with big ocean views in Malibu’s Encinal Bluffs for a cool $70.4 million.

Previously owned by supermodel Cindy Crawford, who still lives next door, the house was listed with Jade Mills of Coldwell Banker for $99 million. Even at $70.4 million, it is the most expensive home sold in Malibu this year, and the fourth priciest in the State of California. A two-story, red-roofed Mediterranean, the residence spans 7,450 square feet with 3.2 acres of luxuriously landscaped grounds. With a chic, airy floor plan, the main floor is complete with a great room combining the living room, den, dining area, and gourmet kitchen. A spectacular pool and spa including a cabana with its own fireplace, tennis courts, and multiple outdoor decks provide options for entertaining and enjoying the stellar sunsets for which Malibu is known. A private path leads down to the white sands of El Sol Beach, accessible only to the handful of surrounding mansions that make up the neighborhood. Mature trees, including palms, surround the house for a serene, natural feel. Nearby options for entertainment include the Malibu Riding and Tennis Club and the famous Paradise Cove Beach Cafe, with the boutiques and restaurants at the Malibu Country Mart just a scenic fifteen-minute drive down the coast.

Kim was born in Los Angeles and, although having lived in a variety of homes in her 41 years, has stayed close to LA with homes in Beverly Hills, Beverly Grove, Bel Air, and Hidden Hills. Her new oceanfront home in Malibu will keep her close to the many other celebrities who have homes in the area, including Lady Gaga, Courtney Cox, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Cher. Marilyn Monroe Homes – 60 Years After Her Death

marilyn monroe, top ten real estate deals, new york gossip gal
Toptenrealestatedeals.com

Marilyn Monroe bought her own home just four months before she died.

August 4th marked the 60-year anniversary of the death of Marilyn Monroe, who would be 96 if she were still alive. Still a sex symbol today, the blonde bombshell started as a pin-up model before branching out into cinema. Famous for her comedies, such as Some Like it Hot and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, she was one of 20th Century Fox’s most bankable stars. She was the centerfold for the first issue of Playboy magazine and was rumored to have had an affair with President John F Kennedy. Before the troubled starlet succumbed to an overdose of barbiturates at age 36, she left her mark on many glamorous homes.

An LA native, Marilyn grew up rough and spent her childhood bouncing between orphanages and foster care and would keep up the lifestyle of frequent moves for the rest of her life. Married at sixteen, she lived with her first husband in a studio apartment in Sherman Oaks. As her star began to rise, she sought a quickie divorce in Vegas and set out on her own. After stints at the female-only Hollywood Studio club and the Beverly Hills Hilton, Marilyn and her second husband, New York Yankees-star Joe DiMaggio, moved into a sprawling Runyon Canyon mansion. Their marriage lasted just nine months.

The once-again-solo Marilyn then rented the penthouse at Granville Towers, one of the most spectacular buildings in West Hollywood. With a French Normandy style, the penthouse offers 2,032 square feet across two floors, floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views, and gorgeous architectural elements. It was recently on the market for $2.49 million.

According to legend, Marilyn’s affair with the dashing JFK took place at the homes of his celebrity friends. One of the President’s most cherished love nests was the 6,700-square-foot Rancho Mirage party pad of superstar Bing Crosby. The palm-lined oasis boasts an oversized swimming pool, a sprawling open floor plan, Moroccan wood-entry doors, three firepits, and a bar. It was recently listed for $5 million.

Marriage to playwright Arthur Miller brought Marilyn to New York. The couple was married in a charming lake house in the French Country style, which sits across from the 16th hole of the Waccabuc Country Club golf course. Wrought iron, French doors, arched doorways, and European fireplaces impart an old-world fairy tale allure to the 4,291-square-foot, six-bedroom mansion. It was listed for $1.65 million.

The couple split their time between a Manhattan penthouse and a Connecticut estate for the five tumultuous years of their marriage. Following her third divorce, the bombshell purchased a charming Mediterranean-style home in LA’s Brentwood neighborhood for $75,000. Built in 1929, the 2,097-square-foot home with lots of green grass, flowers and citrus trees was the first home that she bought on her own. Most recently listed for $6.9 million, the home sits on over half an acre of prime Southern California real estate and sports four bedrooms, exposed roof beams, a Mexican-tiled fireplace, and a swimming pool shaded by mature trees. Four months after she bought the home, Marilyn’s body was found face down and nude on the master bed with a phone in her hand. Some say that her ghost still haunts the spectacular mansion.
