When asked about Israel, she stated, “Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine.” Asked where they should go she continued, “Tell them to go to Germany or Poland.” She came under fire with the White House and White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said, ‘Her comments were offensive and reprehensible and she should and has apologized.’ She was set to speak at a local high school and they abruptly canceled her appearance. Even President Obama commented to Matt Lauer on The Today Show and said, “The comments were offensive and hopefully she realizes that.” He also said she made the right decision by abruptly announcing her retirement. Helen Thomas has always been the cute little old lady, with or without red lipstick sitting in the front row of all The White House press conferences through the years, ready to ask the President’s the tough questions. Oy vey Helen, you are cute no more.
Super talented and mega singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette tied the knot with her rapper boyfriend Souleye, in a quiet ceremony weeks ago, People Magazine just reported. Alanis 36, married Soueye, 30, (real name Mario Treadway) in an intimate ceremony in Los Angeles. Alanis was previously engaged to Scarlett Johanssons’s husband Ryan Reynolds and this is the first marriage for both.
International music sensation Pitbull’s ‘Game On’ song has been chosen as the Official Mascot Song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Sony Music just announced. The mascot song will be heard at each of the nine stadiums in South Africa during the month’s long tournament. Additionally, the song will be included on Listen Up! The official 2010 FIFA World Cup Album, with all proceeds of the song benefiting FIFA’s Official Campaign of the 2010 FIFA World Cup “20 Centers for 2010.” This includes centers for education, public health and football in disadvantaged communities across Africa. Pitbull said, “I am excited to be part of a global event and humbled that ‘Game On’ will be heard around the world.” If you’re not familiar with any of Pitbull’s music, go check him out. His songs have infectious melodies and lyrics that you will happily be singing along to. Looks like Pitbull is on his way to becoming a household name.
Tom Cruise took over the MTV Awards last night by reprising his role as Les Grossman from the movie Tropic Thunder, where he played an obnoxious, big-mouthed Producer. He was in full character and did a full on dance routine with none other than Pop Star and Entertainer Jennifer Lopez. He kept up with her every dance move and had the audience in stitches, including his wife, Katie who was smiling ear to ear. Tom’s attempt at softening his image is working.

Sandra Bullock, who was presented with the MTV Generation Award last night, made a surprise appearance to collect her prize and looked beautiful and blissful. You would never have known that two months ago her supposed loving husband of five years yanked her heart out of her chest and threw it in the trash, by having a secret affair with a skanky tramp. The crowd went wild and showed her the support that only a true superstar and super person could receive. Bullock, who tried to make light of all the press she’s been getting lately told the screaming crowd, “I love what I do. And I’m not going anywhere.” She then lip-locked with Scarlett Johansson, who presented her with the award along with ‘All About Steve’ co-star Bradley Cooper and Betty White, her friend and co-star from The Proposal. She then continued, “Can we please go back to normal-because therapy is really expensive.” And of course, she concluded with asking everyone to pray for those affected by the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf. The hot gossip going around is the supposed love affair between Noah Wyle and Gina Gershon. Apparently, former ER Doc, Noah, who dumped his wife of 11 years and 2 kids later, has been playing doctor with the sexpot actress. They have been spotted spending time together here in the city and in LA. Back in January, People Magazine reported that they had separated back in October and Wyle’s rep stated, ‘Tracy Wyle and Noah Wyle, who separated back in October 2009 have confirmed they have entered into a mediation process. Neither has legally filed for divorce. Tracy and Noah live in separate residences; however their two children (Owen, 7, and Auden, 4) see both parents daily.’ Considering Noah was rumored to have a mistress, (that broke up his marriage,) before taking up with Gina, it will be very interesting to see if the lovebirds last.

Rumors were swirling that Hollywood royalty Garry Marshall was working on a remake of the 70s hit he created, Laverne & Shirley for Jennifer and real-life buddy Jessica Biel, according to a story that ran in New York Magazine. American Idol musical director Ricky Minor has found a new home. Beginning Monday night, Ricky who has been with Idol for six years replaces the recently departed Kevin Eubanks as Jay Leno’s new musical director and bandleader. Kevin, who had been with Leno for 18 years, announced he would be leaving to ‘focus on new things’ after the whole Leno, Conan mess. Many wondered if his departure had anything to do with how Leno handled the situation but Eubanks always kept to his original statement. Ricky got snubbed during the AI Finale when producers failed to even shout out a mere thank you for his six years of outstanding musical direction. Good riddance and goodbye. Ricky starts The Tonight Show Monday.
